Confirman 9 casos de gripe AH1N1 en R. Dominicana
A raíz de la sospecha de la presencia del virus causante de la gripe AH1N1, el exclusivo colegio Carol Morgan fue cerrado por una semana. Este domingo Salud Pública informa que seis casos están relacionados a un brote en un "centro educativo privado".
SANTO DOMINGO (R. Dominicana).- Fueron confirmados nueve casos de gripe AH1N1 en el país, de unas 46 pruebas enviadas esta semana al Centro de Control de Enfermedades de Atlanta, informó la tarde del domingo la secretaría de Salud Pública.
De las nueve personas que dieron positivo al virus, sólo una permanece hospitalizada y el resto presenta un cuadro clínico leve y evolución favorable, explicó la cartera a través de un comunicado.
Con éstos suman 11 los casos de contagio con el virus AH1N1 en el país, desde que la semana pasada fueran confirmados los primeros dos, en una mujer de Santiago y otra de Santo Domingo, que habían llegado desde Estados Unidos.
Las autoridades explicaron que seis de los casos confirmados están relacionados con un brote en un centro educativo privado del Distrito Nacional, dos en personas que estuvieron fuera del país y otros tres en pacientes a quienes no se les ha identificado exposición alguna. (El colegio Carol Morgan permanece cerrado luego de la sospecha de la presencia del virus, aunque las autoridades no lo especifican).
Ocho de los 11 casos corresponden al Distrito Nacional y los restantes tres a las provincias Santo Domingo, Santiago y Peravia.
Las autoridades exhortaron a la población a seguir las recomendaciones de las autoridades sanitarias, que incluyen el reforzamiento de las prácticas de lavado de manos y cubrirse la boca y nariz al toser o estornudar, así como quedarse en sus hogares si presenta la sintomatología de la enfermedad.
